Terms of Service

Last updated: June 2025

1. Acceptance

By using Codici (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The service

Codici provides automated HS code classification based on product descriptions you provide. Results are generated by an AI-assisted classification system and are provided for informational purposes.

Codici results are not legal advice. You are responsible for verifying HS codes against the official tariff nomenclature of the relevant jurisdiction and for any customs declarations made using these codes.

3. Accounts

You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and API keys. You may not share your account with others.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, are involved in fraudulent activity, or are used in ways that harm the Service or other users.

4. Plans and payments

Each account is on a plan with a fixed monthly fee and a number of included lookups. Allowances reset on the 1st of each month and do not roll over. Lookups beyond the included allowance are charged at the plan's stated per-lookup rate, unless the plan sets a limit, in which case it stops at that limit.

Invoices are due within 30 days of issue. Late payment may result in account suspension.

You may change plan yourself; changes take effect on the 1st of the following month, except that an account which has reached a plan limit may move to a larger plan immediately. We reserve the right to adjust pricing with 30 days' notice.

5. Acceptable use

You may not use the Service to:

  • Submit descriptions of sanctioned goods or goods subject to export controls for the purpose of evading controls.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer the underlying classification engine.
  • Overload or disrupt the Service (rate limits apply).
  • Resell API access to third parties without a separate written agreement with us.

6. Data

You retain ownership of the product descriptions you submit. By submitting them, you grant us a limited license to process them for the purpose of providing the Service, including forwarding them to our classification technology partner.

7. Availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Classification depends on our upstream partner; outages at that level may affect our service. We are not liable for losses resulting from unavailability.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Codici and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from use of the Service, including but not limited to customs penalties, duties assessed on incorrect codes, or business losses.

Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 3 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms. Continued use after the effective date of changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be communicated by email to registered users.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by Dutch law. Disputes shall be submitted to the competent court in the Netherlands.
